Christian Phrases & Biblical Words

Discussing "Our Personal Relationship with God" yesterday, it occurred to me once again that many of the phrases we use in church are being emptied of meaning.  I think one of the reasons for this is often the words themselves are dialectical, but not biblical.  The idea of a "personal relationship with God" was coined to fight the idea that Christianity was just a formal set of religious beliefs and practices.  This is true, and it is right to assert this, but for Christians who no longer have that preconception does the phrase have the depth and intricacy of meaning to convey the fullness of our relationship with God as His people?  What is the biblical equivalent I wonder?  I am proposing Godliness - defined by John Murray in the following way:

"Godliness is God-consciousness, an all-pervasive sense of God’s presence. It will mean that never do we think, or speak, or act, without the undergirding sense of God’s presence, of his judgement, of our relation to him and his relation to us, of our responsibility to him and dependence upon him."

I'm not sure even that covers it, but it's sets us off a long way in the right direction.
